I know that some women say their labor is fast, easy, and painless, but that's definitely not the case for everyone. The book's trademark Visual Birth Plan icons can be downloaded for free to help you create a birth plan for every eventuality.

Rebecca Grant is a freelance journalist based in Portland, Oregon, who covers reproductive rights, health, and justice. As a mum of one who is nervous about giving birth again in the coming weeks, it's given me a fresh, more positive perspective and helped me to understand that I have rights! This book covers nearly everything you need to know beginning with pregnancy through to the big day. I’d highly recommend to anyone who feels overwhelmed by information, choice and anyone who feels a bit clueless about everything from pain relief to how to plan for things not going to plan. It's a look at connection and attachment and how mothers are creating a loving relationship with their baby.

However, I recommend this book to women who are struggling to come to terms with their birth, as sometimes understanding something about your needs in labour can be really helpful when looking at how those needs were or weren't met and how that made you feel. It is the balanced, ‘expert in your pocket’ for the big day who – along with wonderful midwives, doctors and childbirth educators - will shepherd you through. Unfortunately this is not cheap, but it is again a fascinating look at what your baby might be up to. Chatty and thorough and uplifting: this book is a whacking great confidence boost right where it's needed. loved this book, as a first time mum to be and very basic knowledge on pregnancy, birth and babies this has been a great listen with amazing insight and information.

If you are an introvert, it can sometimes make motherhood hard, as you might find it hard to build new relationships in settings such as mother and baby groups, or else you might find it a real struggle to get the quiet that you need. Sears helps the reader understand all the different aspects of labor and birth allowing the reader to make an educated choice about her desires for that life-changing day. Tailor Sitting - loosens perineal tissues and stretches inner thigh muscles, strengthening them for birth. Before full-time freelancing, she worked at Washingtonian Magazine and wrote about startups in San Francisco.

Rebecca studied English and art history at Cornell University and served in the Peace Corps in Thailand. Prepare for a safe and joyful birth-with the help of America's foremost baby and childcare experts Since women enjoy more birthing options today than ever before, the path toward a safe and satisfying birth can be fraught with important decisions. Fully revised and updated, this new edition will help you work out what kind of birth you really want, and learn how to maximise your chances of getting it. I love that a member of the medical field is urging patients to think for themselves and define what their own birthing expirience should be as opposed to just knuckling under to what the hospital wants you to do!Therefore, I have tried to keep this book short; it’s an easy read that can be digested with focused reading in lieu of a few evenings of Netflix. Like many of the Pinter and Martin Books in this series, it’s a short and easily accessible read that helps people to understand their feelings better and also to validate how strong these feelings can be. So, it's one book I own and don't ever plan on giving away until I'm finished having kids because it's such a great refresher for those of us who forget between babies how badly birth can hurt!
